How I Get Through Fairground Forest and Godmother Maze
My route through the three-platform puzzle, Godmother Maze, Sling Snipe target, Ferris Wheel, and the key that finishes Fairground Forest.
Updated:
Quick Answer
My Fairground Forest progression is:
enter from the Beach
→ complete the three-platform section
→ continue past the carousel fights
→ pick up the Sling Snipe
→ shoot the distant red target near the minigun
→ push through the next combat section
→ reach the Ferris Wheel / Godmother Maze
→ get through the maze
→ backtrack to the Ferris Wheel
→ climb on top instead of waiting for it to operate normally
→ take the key
→ collect the Fairground Forest Twisted Token
If one of the movable platforms disappears, I check its original pickup point first. Mine respawned there rather than being permanently lost.
Fairground Forest gave me two completely different kinds of problems.
At the beginning, I thought I had broken the three-platform puzzle because one of my platforms disappeared.
Later, I spent far too long inside Godmother Maze because I kept navigating from the walls directly in front of me instead of using higher landmarks.
The Ferris Wheel adds one last bit of misdirection.
Even after I finish the maze progression, I do not need to stand around waiting for the wheel to start working like a normal ride.
I return to it, climb on top, take the key, and finish the area.
How I Reach Fairground Forest
I enter Fairground Forest after finishing Clown Casino and returning to the Lobby.
At this stage, the trampoline that was useless early in the game can finally be used. After progressing through the East Lounge sequence, Mr. Twister tells me to meet him outside in the courtyard.
I leave through the Tower entrance, cross the Beach, and enter Fairground Forest.
I do not stay in the Lobby looking for the next elevator floor.
Fairground Forest is outside.
That transition is worth remembering because most of the game has trained me to think of progression as moving between Tower floors.
The First Puzzle Needs Three Platforms
Almost immediately, I reach a setup that needs three platforms.
The useful number here is three.
One platform is already connected when I arrive.
That means I am not searching the whole Forest for three separate pieces.
I am completing an existing setup.
Once I understood that, it became much easier to tell whether I was actually missing a platform or simply overlooking the one already installed.
If a Platform Disappears, Check Where You Found It
This was my biggest early Fairground Forest false alarm.
I had already moved platforms into the puzzle and then noticed that one seemed to be gone.
My first thought was that I had put it somewhere wrong or broken the sequence.
I had not.
The missing platform had respawned at the place where I originally picked it up.
So if I have already found a platform, place it, and later see an empty slot again, my first move is:
go back to the platform’s original pickup location.
I do that before restarting, reloading, or searching an unrelated part of the Forest.
Once the platform route is restored, I can climb higher and continue through the door rather than circling the opening carnival area.
There is also a hidden Secret Area around this section, but its exact detour belongs in the all secrets guide.
For normal progression, I only need to make sure the platform route lets me continue.
Keep Moving Through the Carousel Section
After the platform section, Fairground Forest becomes much more combat-heavy.
I eventually reach the carousel area.
Some of the environment here is destructible, including the carousel horses, so I do not assume every large carnival object is only scenery.
The more important checkpoint comes after the fight.
I pick up the Sling Snipe.
It is effectively my sniper rifle for this part of the game.
I do not spend tickets upgrading it immediately just because it is new.
The first thing I care about is the problem directly in front of me:
the level is about to ask me to hit something at range.
Shoot the Red Target Near the Minigun
Soon after getting the Sling Snipe, I can see a minigun farther ahead.
The important object is not the minigun itself.
It is the red target near it.
I use the Sling Snipe and shoot that target.
This is one of the places where the weapon pickup and the environmental puzzle are deliberately paired.
If I have just received a long-range weapon and immediately see a distant red target, I test that interaction before trying to brute-force my way past the nearby threat.
That saves health and makes the route much cleaner.
Finish the Combat Section Before Heading to the Ferris Wheel
After the ranged-target section, Fairground Forest sends me through another extended fight.
I do not leave midway just because I can see carnival landmarks in the distance.
I finish the active progression until the objective changes and points me toward the Ferris Wheel area.
At that point, the game explicitly sends me to:
explore near the Ferris Wheel to collect the next Twisted Token.
That is when I stop treating the earlier carnival combat spaces as unfinished.
Reach the Ferris Wheel and Godmother Maze
The next part of the Forest is centered on the Ferris Wheel and Godmother Maze.
The first time I reach the wheel, it does not work.
I initially assumed that meant I should solve the Ferris Wheel itself.
That sent me in the wrong mental direction.
The useful progression is nearby.
I continue toward Godmother Maze.
There is an optional Secret Area around the Ferris Wheel section as well.
I do not mix that path into the main maze solution here; I collect it separately when I am working on Secret Safari.
Godmother Maze — Looking Up Helped More Than Running Faster
Godmother Maze was the part of Fairground Forest where I lost the most time.
The problem was not movement speed.
I was making turns based only on the wall directly in front of me, which made several sections look almost identical.
Once I realized I had been looping, I changed how I navigated.
I use the starting point as my reset reference.
Then, whenever I stop recognizing the corridor, I look upward before choosing another turn.
The higher scenery gives me a much better idea of which side of the maze I am moving toward.
That sounds minor, but it made a bigger difference than sprinting through random turns.
I also do not chase every spider into a dead end.
The spiders create enough visual pressure already; letting them dictate my route makes the maze harder to read.
My priority is:
keep my orientation → continue toward the exit → fight when an enemy actually blocks the path.
Do Not Turn Around Just Because Piper Mentions the Jet Pack
Around this stretch, Piper tells me Charlotte has been taken higher toward Lightspeed Land and that I will need a Jet Pack to get there.
That can make it sound like I should abandon the maze and start searching for the Jet Pack immediately.
I do not.
I am still in the correct place.
The current Fairground Forest progression needs to be completed first.
I keep working through Godmother Maze until I reach the exit.
The Jet Pack becomes relevant after the Fairground Forest token sends me back into the Lobby progression.
Its actual unlock belongs in the movement toys guide.
After Escaping the Maze, Backtrack to the Ferris Wheel
Once I finally reach the far side of the maze, the progression changes.
Now I return to the Ferris Wheel.
This is a real backtrack.
I do not continue searching beyond the maze for a completely new carnival attraction.
I go back along the route I just came through.
The spiders may still be active during part of that return trip, but once I am clear of the maze section the pressure eases.
The Ferris Wheel Still Does Not Work — Climb It
This is the most misleading part of the whole Fairground Forest sequence.
I return expecting the Ferris Wheel to operate.
It still does not behave like a normal ride.
That does not mean I missed another switch.
Instead, I can climb onto it.
This is where I stop thinking of the Ferris Wheel as an attraction and start treating it as level geometry.
I climb to the top.
The Key Is on Top of the Ferris Wheel
At the top, I find the key.
This is the clearest final progression check in the Forest.
If I have:
- completed the three-platform section;
- reached the Sling Snipe;
- handled the distant target;
- escaped Godmother Maze;
- returned to the Ferris Wheel;
- climbed up and taken this key;
then I am at the end of the Fairground Forest route.
Use the Key and Take the Twisted Token
The key leads directly into the final progression step.
I collect the Fairground Forest Twisted Token.
At that point I stop exploring the Forest for the main story.
The game explicitly tells me to return to the Lobby with the token.
That matters because Piper’s earlier Jet Pack dialogue can make it tempting to keep searching the outdoor area.
I do not.
The correct sequence is:
finish Fairground Forest
→ take its Twisted Token
→ return to the Lobby
→ continue the next traversal progression there.
The full token-to-unlock relationship stays in the Twisted Token guide.
For this area, the important endpoint is simpler:
Ferris Wheel key → Twisted Token → leave the Forest.
