How I Unlock Batteries and the Electronics Press
I unlock the Electronics Press through Brother Lewis, build it with 20 Ingots and 8 Screws, then craft Batteries from Electric Wood.
Updated:
Quick answer: if I reach the Tech Bridge and it asks for a Battery before I can craft one, I leave it for later. I unlock Batteries through the Brother Lewis / Children of Jackpot progression in the Corrupted Fields. After restoring Lewis, I repair the broken chains for 16 Ingots, speak to Lewis again and receive the Electronics Press blueprint. The Press costs 20 Ingots + 8 Screws, and each Battery then costs 2 Electric Wood + 1 Ingot.
The confusing part about Batteries in Chop Chop Inc. is that the game shows me a Battery gate before it gives me the machine that makes Batteries.
I reached the Tech Bridge, saw that it wanted a Battery and Cable, and immediately started checking shops and crafting categories.
That was wasted time.
The Cable was already obtainable, but the Battery was still locked behind a later story quest.
Once I recognized that distinction, the route became straightforward:
leave the bridge → finish the Lewis route → repair the broken chains → unlock the Electronics Press → craft Batteries → return to the bridge.
Why I Cannot Craft a Battery Yet
The clearest early Battery gate is the Tech Bridge in the Corrupted Fields.
It requires:
Battery + Cable
The Cable made this especially misleading for me.
I could order a Cable, so I initially assumed the Battery should also be available somewhere in a shop or another crafting category.
I checked.
I still could not make one.
That was my signal to stop treating the bridge as the active objective.
The Battery is progression-gated, not hidden beside the bridge.
What Actually Unlocks the Battery
The Battery route is tied to the story inside the Corrupted Fields.
If I have only just reached that biome, I keep following its main character quests rather than trying to cross the Tech Bridge immediately.
The progression I use is:
- meet Harold and Mildred;
- follow Mildred’s mushroom request;
- unlock the giant portal on the hill;
- meet the Children of Jackpot;
- learn that Brother Lewis is missing;
- continue Mildred’s quest until I find Lewis;
- return Lewis to the Children of Jackpot;
- complete the Eternal Spinner ritual;
- repair the broken chains for 16 Ingots;
- speak to Lewis again and receive the machinery blueprint;
- build the Electronics Press;
- craft the Battery.
The important correction is step 9.
Restoring Lewis is not quite enough.
I still need to finish the broken-chain objective before the Electronics Press blueprint arrives.
Follow Mildred Until the Giant Portal Opens
Harold and Mildred live in the Corrupted Fields.
Mildred begins by asking for mushrooms.
This can look like an unrelated food quest, especially when my actual problem is an electrical bridge.
I still follow it.
After I bring back the first mushroom set, Mildred says one special mushroom is still missing.
Harold points me toward the huge portal on top of the hill.
The portal is locked, but the solution is very close to their house:
the key is under the doormat.
I take the key and head up to the portal.
I do not spend time trying to manufacture a Battery before this point because the story has not unlocked the required machine yet.
Meet the Children of Jackpot
Inside the portal, I meet the Children of Jackpot and their Eternal Spinner.
They explain two problems:
- Brother Lewis is missing;
- the Spinner’s restraints are damaged.
Lewis disappeared when the portal was sealed.
That name matters because he eventually provides the blueprint I need for the Electronics Press.
At this stage, however, I cannot simply talk to the group and leave with the recipe.
I still have to find Lewis.
Finish Mildred’s Quest to Find Lewis
I return to Harold and Mildred and continue the cooking sequence.
After preparing the mushrooms, Mildred sends me to get a large soup spoon.
The store room is:
outside, to the left of the cabin’s main entrance.
That specific direction saved me from searching the whole Corrupted Fields again.
Inside the shack, the quest finally reveals what happened to Lewis.
I confront Harold and Mildred, recover Lewis and take him back to the Children of Jackpot.
This is the point where the food quest and the electronics progression finally connect.
Return Lewis and Complete the Ritual
I bring Lewis back to the cult and place him where they request.
The Eternal Spinner ritual restores him.
I originally expected the Battery unlock here.
It did not happen yet.
Instead, the Children of Jackpot give me another objective:
repair the broken restraints around the Eternal Spinner.
Repair the Broken Chains With 16 Ingots
This is the easy step to miss if I leave immediately after Lewis is restored.
When I return to the broken-chain objective, the requirement is:
16 Ingots
I did not have enough the first time I checked it, so I left to gather more Metal Wood and process enough Ingots.
This is one of the few moments in the route where I deliberately stop and farm metal.
Before this point, farming extra electrical materials does not solve the Battery problem.
Here, the resource shortage is real.
I gather enough metal for the 16 Ingots, return to the Eternal Spinner and finish the restraint repair.
Talk to Lewis Again for the Electronics Press Blueprint
After the Spinner route is repaired, I speak to Lewis again.
This is the conversation I was missing when I first searched for the Battery.
Lewis explains that the Eternal Spinner gave him a blueprint for some kind of machinery before bringing him back.
That machinery is the:
Electronics Press
The objective then updates to:
- build the Electronics Press;
- craft a Battery;
- collect the Battery.
If I have already restored Lewis but the Electronics Press is still missing, I check the broken-chain objective before searching another shop.
Electronics Press Build Requirements
Once the blueprint is available, I build the Press immediately.
The materials shown in my route are:
- 20 Ingots
- 8 Screws
This changes my resource priorities.
At this point I am willing to spend time gathering more metal because the Press permanently opens the electronics crafting chain.
I do not spend that same metal first on optional furniture if doing so would delay the Press.
When I build it immediately
I build the Electronics Press as soon as I have the materials when:
- the Tech Bridge is still blocked;
- the Eternal Spinner still needs power;
- I have reached the Lewis blueprint step.
Those are direct progression uses.
When I do not over-farm
I do not fill storage with huge amounts of Electric Wood before the Press exists.
Having Electric Wood early does not unlock the Battery.
I gather enough to cover the Batteries I actually need, then continue.
How to Craft a Battery
After the Electronics Press is built, the Battery recipe finally becomes usable.
Each Battery costs:
2 Electric Wood + 1 Ingot
Electric Wood is easy to confuse with the unlock condition because I can find Electric Trees before reaching this point.
But Electric Wood is only a crafting material.
It is not what unlocks the recipe.
The Lewis blueprint unlocks the production chain.
I Craft Two Batteries First
As soon as the recipe appears, I make two Batteries rather than only the one named by the current objective.
At this stage I already have two immediate uses:
- the Eternal Spinner;
- the Tech Bridge.
That saves me from repairing the Spinner, walking back to the bridge and then discovering I need to return home just to craft another Battery.
In my route, I deliberately make one for each.
I also make sure I still have a Cable for the Tech Bridge because the Battery does not replace that second requirement.
Repair the Eternal Spinner
One Battery goes back to the Children of Jackpot.
Using it restores power to the Eternal Spinner.
That completes the current cult-side electronics objective and opens its next interaction.
I do this while I am already in the area rather than carrying both Batteries straight to the bridge.
The second Battery stays with me for progression.
Return to the Tech Bridge With a Battery and Cable
Now the earlier Tech Bridge is finally a real objective.
I return with:
- 1 Battery
- 1 Cable
If I only have the Battery, I do not make the full trip yet.
The bridge needs both components.
Once repaired, it opens the route toward the next cold/snow progression area.
I stop this guide there.
The Battery and Electronics Press are the Owner Page here; the region beyond the bridge belongs to the broader Chop Chop Inc progression guide.
Electric Wood Does Not Unlock Batteries
This deserves its own warning because it caused me to search in the wrong direction.
I had already reached Electric Trees and collected Electric Wood before the Battery recipe appeared.
I also had other electronic-looking recipes available while the Battery was still missing.
Neither condition unlocked it.
So if I have Electric Wood but no Battery recipe, I do not:
- keep chopping Electric Trees hoping for an unlock;
- search every electronics furniture category;
- repeat the Tech Bridge interaction;
- assume my save is bugged.
I check the Lewis progression instead.
What I Check If the Electronics Press Is Still Missing
If I think I am far enough into the Corrupted Fields but still cannot build the Press, I check the quest in this order.
Have I entered the giant portal?
If not, I finish Mildred’s mushroom progression and get the portal key from under Harold and Mildred’s doormat.
Have I met the Children of Jackpot?
If not, I enter the portal and exhaust the introductory conversation so the Brother Lewis objective exists.
Have I found Lewis?
If not, I return to Mildred and continue the dinner quest through the outside store room.
Have I returned Lewis to the cult?
Finding him is not enough.
I bring him back and complete the ritual.
Have I repaired the broken chains?
This is the step I would check first if Lewis is already alive but the Press still has not appeared.
The chain repair costs 16 Ingots.
Have I spoken to Lewis again afterward?
The machinery blueprint comes from Lewis.
I make sure I have completed that follow-up conversation before searching the crafting menus again.
When I Leave the Battery Gate and When I Return
I leave the Tech Bridge when:
- it asks for a Battery;
- the Battery recipe is still missing;
- I do not have the Electronics Press blueprint;
- the Lewis / Eternal Spinner quest is unfinished.
At that stage, extra searching around the bridge does not help.
I return when:
- Lewis has been restored;
- the broken chains are repaired;
- Lewis has given me the machinery blueprint;
- the Electronics Press is built;
- I have crafted a Battery;
- I also have the required Cable.
That is the real solution to the Battery blocker.
The Battery is not difficult to find.
The game simply shows me places that need one before my story progression has unlocked the machine that makes it.
