The exact route I use from the abandoned village to the Foreman, including the Sub-City combat gate, the locked door, and what I do after getting the bow.

How I Find the Foreman Without Wasting a Backtrack

Quick Answer

I find the Foreman by leaving the abandoned village and following the main road to the Sub-City. Reaching the ruins is not enough: I keep moving through the interior, clear every corrupted golem in the active combat area, and open the deepest locked door. The Foreman is in the room beyond it. I do not return to the Walker or search for a separate key, because this door opens through combat progress, not an item.

The confusing part of Search for the Foreman is that the objective sounds like a simple NPC search, but the game hides him behind a short combat dungeon.

When I receive the clue in the abandoned village, the instruction is specific: the Foreman is in the Sub-City at the end of the road. In my completion route, that clue appeared at about 12:06, and I reached the Foreman at about 26:52. The whole section took roughly 15 minutes, including the road, the interior fights, and the locked-door check.

That timing matters because I initially expected to find him in the first visible ruin. I did not. The task only progresses after I reach the deeper room inside the Sub-City.

The useful clue is the destination, not a hidden key: I follow the road to the Sub-City and prepare for a combat-gated interior.

I Leave the Village Instead of Searching Every Building

After speaking with the conscious golem in the abandoned village, I stop checking the nearby houses.

The objective does not ask me to find a Foreman office, a workshop, or a marked warehouse inside the village. The route continues beyond it.

I use this order:

  1. finish the conversation that points me toward the Sub-City;
  2. leave the village along the road leading forward;
  3. stay on that route until the environment changes into the ruined Sub-City;
  4. enter the interior instead of circling the outer structures;
  5. clear the enemies blocking the deeper rooms.

I do not return to the Walker here. Nothing at the Walker advances this objective, and the Foreman is not waiting at a different settlement.

I also do not spend time looking for a quest key before entering. The important door later in the area is unlocked by clearing enemies, not by finding an item.

The First Real Check Is Inside the Sub-City

I know I am on the correct route when the area changes from the open road into a dense ruin filled with corrupted golems.

At about 21:15 in my route, the game acknowledges that I have arrived. That still does not complete the objective. The Foreman is farther inside.

This is where I slow down and stop treating every enemy as optional. On an open road, I can often keep moving past a fight. Inside this section, leaving an enemy alive can keep the next door closed.

I clear each active group before moving on. If a room seems finished but the path does not open, I check behind me and around the doorway for a remaining golem before assuming I took the wrong route.

Why the Door to the Foreman Stays Locked

The deepest door is the main reason this task feels broken.

At about 22:31, the game identifies another presence behind a door farther inside. The next line explains the condition: the door should unlock after the threats are eliminated.

That means I check three things before leaving the area:

  • whether the current combat music has ended;
  • whether a corrupted golem is still standing near the room entrance;
  • whether I ran past an enemy while moving between the previous chamber and the door.

I do not search the inventory for a red, blue, or yellow key. Those keys are part of a later objective and do not open this door.

I also do not reload immediately. In this section, a closed door usually means the combat condition is incomplete, not that the save is broken.

When this door stays shut, I search the active combat area for one remaining corrupted golem instead of hunting for a key.

The Foreman Is in the Room Beyond the Combat Gate

Once the last threat is gone, I continue through the opened door and follow the remaining interior route.

I meet the Foreman at about 26:52 in my route. He is not standing in the open part of the settlement, and there is no separate interaction puzzle once I reach him. The important part is getting through the combat gate.

The Foreman is inside the final room, beyond the door that opens after I clear the corrupted golems.

I let the full conversation finish. Leaving early would make it unclear whether the objective has advanced and whether the next reward sequence has started.

The Foreman explains the nearby Nushi and then dies. Koo finds a bow almost immediately afterward.

I Take the Bow and Keep Moving Forward

The bow appears at about 27:51, less than a minute after I first speak with the Foreman.

This is why I do not spend Amber or make a long backtrack specifically to solve the Foreman objective. The section is testing navigation and combat clearance, not ranged damage, and the first bow is delivered through the story sequence.

Koo finding the first bow after Emma meets the Foreman
The bow is the immediate reward for completing the Foreman sequence, so I do not leave the route to search for a ranged weapon beforehand.

After taking it, I practice the ranged attack on the nearby enemies and continue toward the Nushi.

I do not return to the abandoned village. I do not return to the Walker yet. The route now moves deeper into the same regional objective.

The game gives a clear return instruction later, after the first major Nushi encounter. Until that happens, turning around only adds travel without advancing the story.

When I Heal, Continue, or Turn Back

My decision at this point depends on health, not on the objective marker.

I use a campsite before the deeper Sub-City fights when:

  • I spent too much healing on the road;
  • I am still uncomfortable with parrying corrupted golems;
  • I want a clean attempt before entering the locked-door section.

I continue without another detour when:

  • my healing supply is still intact;
  • the current enemies are going down consistently;
  • I have already activated the nearby campsite;
  • the Foreman objective is still pointing forward.

I do not buy or farm anything specifically for this task. There is no required purchase, and the bow arrives after the Foreman conversation.

I only make a real return trip when the story later tells me to return to the Walker. That is the point where the next preparation phase begins.

If Search for the Foreman Does Not Progress

I use this short check rather than replaying the entire route:

  1. confirm that I spoke with the conscious golem in the abandoned village;
  2. confirm that I followed the road into the Sub-City;
  3. move past the first ruins and enter the deeper interior;
  4. clear every corrupted golem tied to the locked room;
  5. approach the Foreman and let the conversation finish;
  6. remain in the room until Koo finds the bow.

If I have reached a locked door but have not heard the line about a presence behind it, I am probably not at the deepest combat gate yet.

If I have heard that line and the door remains closed, I search for a surviving enemy rather than leaving the Sub-City.

FAQ

Where is the Foreman in Beast of Reincarnation? +

The Foreman is inside the Sub-City at the end of the road beyond the abandoned village. I clear the corrupted golems inside, open the deepest combat-locked door, and find him in the room beyond it.

Why will the door to the Foreman not open? +

The door is tied to the enemies in the Sub-City. If it remains shut, at least one corrupted golem in the active combat area is still alive. I check the room and nearby doorway before trying to leave or backtrack.

Should I return to the Walker during Search for the Foreman? +

No. I stay on the Sub-City route until I meet the Foreman and receive the bow. The game sends me back to the Walker later, after the first major Nushi encounter.
