Ghost of Yotei Guides

Quick Answer

Echoes of Sekigahara is the new Ashoro Foothills story, while Most Wanted is a separate run-based combat mode with its own hunter progression.

If Nagato the Handsome is missing, check the Echoes requirements first. If you are already in Ashoro, continue through the regional story. If you are working toward Jin Sakai, progress through Most Wanted instead.

Ghost of Yotei’s new content follows two separate progression paths.

Echoes of Sekigahara continues Atsu’s story through Ashoro Foothills and Nagato the Handsome. Most Wanted starts its own sequence of Hunts, permanent upgrades, temporary perks, and hunter unlocks.

Progress in one does not replace progress in the other, so the important first decision is whether you are trying to continue the Ashoro story or build a Most Wanted hunter.

Do You Need the Complete Edition for Echoes and Most Wanted?

Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted are part of the Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition content.

If you already own the base game, you do not need to buy Ghost of Yotei again. The Complete Edition Upgrade adds Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted to an existing copy.

At the US launch of the Complete Edition, the upgrade was $14.99, while the full Complete Edition for new players was $69.99.

The free game update does not by itself grant access to Echoes or Most Wanted.

Most Wanted can be played without completing the main campaign first, although knowing Ghost of Yotei’s combat systems makes the opening Hunts much easier to read.

Nagato the Handsome Starts Echoes of Sekigahara

Echoes does not begin by finding an unmarked Ashoro entrance.

After the required story progress, speak with Kojiro at Yotei’s Shadow Inn and take Nagato the Handsome from the bounty board. Nagato’s objective then marks the marshland route into Ashoro Foothills.

If the bounty is still missing, use how to start Echoes of Sekigahara to check the four prerequisite quests, Kojiro, and the route into the new region.

Ashoro Springs Leads Into the Main Story

Once Atsu reaches Ashoro, the story moves from the opening wolf rescue into Ashoro Springs and the search for Saito’s hidden war funds.

The route eventually passes through Another Man’s Treasure, the Snake’s Estate, Mount Akan, A Past and Present Battle, A Buried Promise, and Dream’s End.

Several of those missions have small navigation blockers that are easy to miss, including the entrance to the Snake’s Estate, Ichizo the Toad’s key, the Mount Akan route, and the retaining wall during Dream’s End.

Use the Ashoro Foothills walkthrough if the current objective is no longer obvious.

Optional Ashoro activities do not need to be cleared before finishing Dream’s End.

Echoes Has 12 Trophies

Echoes of Sekigahara adds 12 trophies.

Some come naturally from the Ashoro story, while others require specific activities or combat conditions. The larger cleanup requirements include:

  • 4 Viper Storehouses
  • 5 dye trade routes
  • 4 new cooking recipes
  • 3 Zeni Hajiki wins
  • 3 Gambler’s Mark kills

Other trophies depend on actions such as freeing the Golden Bird, defeating the Unbreakable warrior, killing with Catch Arrow, letting Call of the Pack get the final hit, and disarming a Viper trap before it fires.

The Echoes of Sekigahara trophy guide has the Storehouse locations, recipe locations, all four recipe names, and the combat conditions that are easiest to miss.

Most Wanted Has Its Own Progression

Most Wanted starts with Atsu rather than importing a finished campaign build.

Each Hunt runs through six stages, including a miniboss at Stage 3 and the main bounty at Stage 6. Permanent progression comes from spending Mon on Skill Trees, weapons, Charms, and other qualifying purchases, while temporary perks only last for the current Hunt.

The mode separates upgrades into several useful areas:

  • Global Skill Tree upgrades that benefit every hunter
  • Class Skill Tree upgrades tied to the current hunter
  • Weapon and Quickfire upgrades
  • Charms
  • Meals for a single Hunt

If early Hunts are failing, Global combat and survival upgrades are usually more useful than spreading Mon across several unfinished weapon paths.

The Most Wanted guide covers the six-stage Hunt structure, upgrade priorities, temporary perks, hunter differences, Meals, revives, and Max Threat.

Oyuki, Nagato, and Jin Unlock Through Spending

Most Wanted tracks total Mon spent, not how much Mon you currently hold.

The hunter thresholds are:

  • Oyuki — 3,500 total Mon spent
  • Nagato — 10,200 total Mon spent
  • Jin Sakai — 28,800 total Mon spent

That means saving 28,800 Mon in your wallet does not unlock Jin. Spending on useful progression is what moves the hunter requirement forward.

Jin’s locked entry also shows exactly how much more spending remains. Once he becomes available, his four-stance Storm Blade, Dance of Wrath, Sticky Bomb, Hankyu, and Ghost Stance give him a very different combat setup from Atsu.

Use how to unlock Jin Sakai for the remaining-spend counter and his first combat setup after unlocking him.
