Which Three Guardian Keys Open the Catacombs Gate?
The sealed entrance requires three keys obtained from guardian encounters:

If you have spent a long time exploring the Cemetery, the difficulty is usually remembering how to return to that earlier part of Paris rather than discovering a new entrance.
Use these locations to orient yourself:
- Sewer Reservoir: return toward the earlier sewer network associated with The Fallen.
- Path of the Rat: follow the connection toward the previously sealed passage.
- Gate to the Catacombs: return to the gate now that all three guardian keys have been obtained.
You are revisiting an existing destination, not searching for a second Catacombs entrance somewhere beneath the Cemetery.
With the guardian requirement satisfied, proceed at the gate to complete Unlock the Gate to the Catacombs.
The route beyond the entrance leads into the underground passages where the guardians have been sending the souls collected throughout Paris.
Why Is the Catacombs Gate Still Locked?
If Rose reaches the sealed entrance and cannot continue, check which guardian she has actually defeated.
You Defeated The Fallen, but the Gate Is Still Closed
The Fallen’s Key is only the first of three.
Continue through Paris toward Prison Tower and the Cemetery to find the remaining guardians. The hidden lever encountered earlier in the journey does not unlock this three-key gate.
You Defeated Joan, but the Gate Still Will Not Open
Joan provides the second guardian key. Medusa still holds the third.
Unlocking Holy Light after Joan does not complete the gate requirement. Continue toward Holy Innocents’ Cemetery and defeat Medusa before returning.
You Found the Cemetery, but the Final Key Is Missing
Reaching the Cemetery, discovering Roman Baths, or collecting Guardian’s Gaze does not grant the final key.
You must defeat Medusa and reach the scene confirming that Rose has obtained the last key.
The Fountain of the Lost chained chest and optional challenge rooms are separate rewards.
You Defeated Medusa, but the Objective Has Not Finished
Medusa’s defeat completes the key collection, but Rose still needs to return to the sealed entrance.
Check the map for Gate to the Catacombs in the original Paris sewer network. If you are still in Roman Baths, Ancient Sewers, or another Cemetery area, continue the return journey.
Once you reach the correct gate with all three keys, proceed through the entrance to finish Unlock the Gate to the Catacombs.
Are Optional Challenges Required?
No. Challenge rooms, Relics, and permanent upgrades do not replace guardian keys.
An ATK Up, DEF Up, or heart fragment can make a difficult guardian fight easier, but the gate itself is unlocked through the three guardian encounters.
What Happens After You Open the Catacombs Gate?
Opening the sealed passage completes Unlock the Gate to the Catacombs and begins Stop the Resurrection.
