Lift, Mist & Half-Face Doors Guide
A practical Blasphemous 2 The Third Sin stuck guide for clearing purple mist, restoring the lift, getting Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes, and opening half-face doors.
Updated:
Quick Answer
If you are stuck on the purple mist, blocked lift, or half-face doors in Blasphemous 2: The Third Sin, follow this order: get Embrujo, use it to take the bell / blue-ring route around the mist, reach the gas-control NPC room, turn off the purple mist / gas, return to the central lift, ride it into the lower route, get Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes, then return to the half-face / lady-face doors.
Quick Progression Order
| Step | Blocker | What solves it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Whip points, bells, blue rings | Get Embrujo first |
| 2 | Purple mist / gas | Follow the Embrujo route to the gas-control NPC room |
| 3 | Blocked central lift | Clear the mist / gas route first, then return to the lift shaft |
| 4 | Lower Castle route | Ride the restored lift down |
| 5 | Half-face / lady-face doors | Get Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes |
| 6 | Remaining side rooms | Revisit old mist, lift, half-face, bell, and Embrujo rooms |
Blocker Map: Where Each Problem Usually Fits
Use this as a mental map before you start running in circles.
| Castle layer / route type | What you usually see there | What you need |
|---|---|---|
| Early Castle rooms | Whip points, bells, unreachable ledges | Embrujo |
| Middle Castle route | Purple mist / gas blocking progress | Gas-control NPC route |
| Central shaft | Lift that looks blocked or useless | Mist / gas cleared first |
| Lower route after the lift | Newly opened progression path | Follow it to Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes |
| Sealed side rooms | Half-face or lady-face crest doors | Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes |
| Cleanup rooms | Old side paths, bells, blue rings, collectibles | Return after the above blockers are solved |
Step 1: Get Embrujo First
Before solving the mist, lift, or half-face doors, you need Embrujo. It is the weapon that lets you use many of Castle of the Mist’s route mechanics:
| Embrujo route tool | Why it matters here |
|---|---|
| Whip-style reach | Hits targets and enemies across gaps |
| Blue mirror rings / lit emblems | Pulls you through air routes around blockers |
| Bell interaction | Activates temporary platforms and route changes |
| Directional attacks | Lets you hit route objects above, below, or across from you |
If a room shows bells, glowing rings, or whip targets and you do not have Embrujo yet, leave that room and continue the main Castle route until you get the weapon.
Step 2: Find the Purple Mist / Gas Blocker
The purple mist / gas is one of the first major progression walls after Embrujo. You will usually notice it when a route looks like it should continue, but the purple cloud blocks the path.
When you reach this blocker, do not keep testing jumps or dashes through it. Backtrack into the connected Castle rooms and look for an Embrujo route that goes around the mist rather than through it.
Your goal is to find the bypass route around the gas, not pass through the cloud itself. If you are still entering the purple mist directly, backtrack to the nearby Embrujo / bell rooms and look for the alternate side route that leads away from the blocked path.
Step 3: Reach the Gas-Control NPC Room
The route that turns off the mist leads to a small NPC / control room connected to the gas system. This is the room you are looking for when the article says “gas-control route.”
Inside this route, the important detail is not combat. It is progression. Once you reach the gas-control NPC room and complete the interaction, the same purple mist room that blocked you earlier becomes passable.
If you are near the correct route but cannot find the NPC room, check these signs:
| Sign | What it means |
|---|---|
| You are still entering the purple cloud directly | You are approaching from the wrong side; look for the route around it |
| You see bells or glowing rings nearby | You are probably close to the intended Embrujo route |
| You keep returning to the same blocked mist room | Backtrack one or two rooms and search for an alternate upper or side exit |
| The room layout starts looping around the gas | Keep following it; the control NPC is on the bypass route |
| You reached a quiet NPC / control room | Complete the interaction, then return to the blocked mist room |
Step 4: Return to the Mist Room and Confirm It Is Clear
After completing the gas-control route, go back to the purple mist / gas blocker. The room should now be safe to cross or at least no longer blocked by the same cloud.
This is the first big backtrack point. Before moving too far ahead, remember which rooms were blocked by gas, because several side paths become worth revisiting later.
Step 5: Return to the Central Lift
Once the purple mist / gas route is solved, return to the central lift shaft in Castle of the Mist. Before clearing the gas route, this lift looks blocked, dead, or unusable.
After the gas-control route is complete, the lift route becomes active. Return to the elevator platform / shaft and use it to descend into the lower Castle route.
The lift does not become useful because of Embrujo alone. It becomes useful after the gas route is solved. If the lift still does nothing, you probably missed the gas-control NPC interaction.
Step 6: Follow the Lower Route to Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes
After the gas-control route is complete, return to the central lift shaft and ride the lift down. This is the important direction change: once you are below the lift, stay on the new lower progression route instead of going back to old mist rooms or earlier Castle side paths. Your target is Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes. It is not found by opening a half-face door first. You get it before those doors become passable, along the lower route that becomes available after the lift starts working.
Step 7: Open Half-Face and Lady-Face Doors
After getting Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes, return to doors with half-face or lady-face crest wording. These are different from purple mist blockers and lift blockers.
A simple way to separate the blockers:
| Blocker | What it looks like | What opens it |
|---|---|---|
| Purple mist / gas | Cloudy purple blocker in the route | Gas-control NPC route |
| Central lift | Elevator shaft that does not help yet | Clear mist / gas route first |
| Half-face doors | Door text or crest tied to half a face / lady’s face | Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes |
| Whip / bell routes | Glowing targets, bells, and long air chains | Embrujo |
What to Revisit After Each Blocker
The strongest cleanup route is not random. Revisit specific rooms after each blocker is solved.
| After this progress… | Revisit these rooms |
|---|---|
| After getting Embrujo | Rooms with bells, blue rings, lit emblems, high ledges, and unreachable route targets |
| After clearing the mist / gas | The original purple mist room, nearby gas-blocked side rooms, and routes around the gas-control NPC |
| After restoring the lift | The central lift shaft, lower elevator-connected rooms, and vertical side exits near the shaft |
| After getting Broken Ring | Half-face doors, lady-face crest doors, and sealed side rooms you marked earlier |
| After opening face doors | Any late side room that connects back to Castle of the Mist, Stone Entrails, or collectible cleanup paths |
Final Stuck Checklist
Use this only if the route still feels blocked after you have followed the main order.
| Check | What to verify |
|---|---|
| Mist is actually gone | Return to the original purple mist room and confirm the cloud blocker is no longer stopping you |
| Gas-control NPC interaction is complete | Do not leave the bypass route before finishing the NPC / control-room interaction |
| Lift was checked after mist cleared | The central lift matters after the gas route, not before |
| You stayed on the lower route | After riding the lift down, follow the new lower progression path instead of returning to old side rooms |
| Broken Ring is in your inventory | Half-face / lady-face doors will not open until you have Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes |
| Old doors were revisited after the ring | Go back to the half-face and lady-face doors you marked earlier |
| Cleanup is separated from progression | Do not chase collectibles until the mist, lift, and ring chain is solved |
FAQ
How do you clear the purple mist in The Third Sin? +
Get Embrujo first, then follow the Embrujo and bell route around the mist until you reach the gas-control NPC room. After that route is completed, the purple mist / gas blocker turns off.
How do you restore the lift in Castle of the Mist? +
The lift becomes usable after the mist / gas blocker route is cleared. Return to the central lift shaft after the gas-control route, then use the lift to reach the lower progression path.
