This is the cleanest order for a first clear.

To enter The Third Sin, you need three things:

| Lower Choir of Thorns route | Go to the bottom of Choir of Thorns near the Icebound Mausoleum side |
| Lake chariot | Interact with the chariot and choose Yes to cross to Castle of the Mist |
Once you arrive in Castle of the Mist, do not start by clearing every side room. Follow the main route until the castle gives you the tools to solve its blockers.

Embrujo is the new whip-style weapon in The Third Sin. It is not only a combat weapon; it is also the tool that makes many Castle of the Mist routes work.

Get the Lamp of the Whisper of the Mist, unlock Passage of Ash for double jump, go to the lower part of Choir of Thorns near the Icebound Mausoleum side, follow the fog route, then use the lake chariot to reach Castle of the Mist.
Follow the open early route through the short purple cloud section, climb into Geometry of Knowledge, meet Eliseo, check the three map objectives, then push toward Embrujo.
Embrujo is the new whip-style weapon. It is used for long-range attacks, bells, blue mirror rings, lit castle emblems, Wail of the Flame, and many Castle of the Mist route puzzles.
There are 19 Marks of the Embrujo in The Third Sin. They are used to unlock Embrujo upgrades.
Get Embrujo, find the gas-control NPC route to clear the purple mist, return to the central lift, follow the lower route to Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes, then revisit half-face and lady-face doors.
Start full cleanup after Embrujo, the mist route, the lift, Broken Ring of Sealed Eyes, and half-face doors are solved. Cleanup is much easier once the castle routes are connected.
