Miami Zero Yacht Repair: How to Fix the Ship Before Day 15
Repair the Miami yacht by assigning healthy survivors, building repair points, matching specialist workers, and protecting finished compartments.
Updated:
Quick Answer
From Day 2, send healthy survivors to the yacht and assign them to compartments on the ship management screen. Prepare a compartment for repairs, start the work, and let your assigned crew generate Repair Points at the end of each day.
Finish compartments to open more of the ship. Match specialist survivors to suitable rooms, and complete the remaining repairs before Day 15.
The yacht cannot leave Miami just because survivors have boarded. Starting on Day 2, each available compartment must be prepared, staffed, and repaired with points earned at the end of each shift. Sending people aboard without starting the work leaves the ship no closer to departure.
With Day 15 approaching, a room left idle for several shifts can become difficult to finish. Specialist workers improve repair progress, but admitting an infected survivor can cause deaths aboard and additional repair costs. The decisions made at the inspection checkpoint directly affect how quickly the yacht becomes ready.
Start Yacht Repairs on Day 2
After the crew discusses escaping Miami by boat, open the yacht management screen. The repair tutorial introduces three actions: pay to prepare an available compartment, assign a healthy survivor, and collect the crew’s repair points at the end of the shift.
The opening assignments take you through the Cabins and Med Bay. Send the required survivor to the Cabins, then assign the medically trained survivor to the Med Bay when that task appears. Completing these first rooms opens access to more of the yacht.
The tutorial also demonstrates the difference between current progress and daily contributions. An Engines compartment at 8/10 Repair Points, with another +1 expected that evening, will reach 9/10 rather than finish immediately. You need another shift or additional repair contribution to complete it.
Which Compartments Should You Prepare Next?
After the initial assignments, the yacht opens additional facilities, including the Diner, Generator, Workshop, and Rest Area. Later repairs involve essential mechanical systems such as the engines.
You cannot purchase access to every compartment immediately. Finishing earlier rooms makes additional sections available, and each newly prepared compartment needs workers before it can begin accumulating progress.
When several rooms are available, I would check the unfinished repair totals and the workers already assigned before paying for another one. A compartment close to completion can be worth finishing first if doing so opens the next required section. Preparing several expensive rooms without enough workers leaves money committed to repairs that may not finish before the deadline.
Check the yacht screen after every shift, particularly when a compartment changes from an unfinished state to a green completed state. That is the point to look for newly accessible rooms and decide where the next survivors should work.
How Much Do Specialist Survivors Help?
Some survivors contribute extra repair points when assigned to a matching compartment. The Med Bay assignment demonstrates this with Connor Pol, whose medical background provides a +5 Repair Points contribution.
Other matching assignments can provide smaller bonuses. A Generator assignment, for example, can show a +2 contribution. These differences become more valuable when a room needs several shifts to finish.
Compare the worker’s background with the available compartments before assigning them. A specialist is particularly valuable in a room where the extra points shorten the number of remaining repair shifts.
Ordinary healthy survivors are still useful. Leaving a room empty while waiting indefinitely for a specialist wastes repair time, especially late in the campaign. Use the available workforce to keep progress moving, then take advantage of matching specialists when they appear.
What Happens When an Infected Survivor Reaches the Yacht?
Admitting an infected survivor can undo more than one day’s work. An infection aboard the yacht can kill crew members, disrupt a compartment, and create additional expenses before repairs can continue.
A missed Bite Mark can result in an infected survivor being sent to the Generator Room. The end-of-day report can then show multiple deaths and an infected compartment. The Diner is another area where an onboard infection can cause crew losses.
The loss is particularly damaging when your repair schedule depends on a small number of useful workers. A specialist’s additional points cannot compensate for an outbreak that removes crew members or forces recovery spending.
After a bad end-of-day report, open the yacht management screen before preparing another room. Check which compartment was affected, whether its repair state has changed, and whether more money or workers are now required.
For incoming survivors, make the final yacht assignment only after the inspection is complete. Quarantine is preferable when a condition still requires observation. A healthy survivor released after reinspection can contribute to the ship without introducing the same infection risk.
Why Has the Head Stopped Progressing?
Around Day 6, the yacht’s Head develops a plumbing blockage. This is a task obstruction, not an ordinary shortage of repair points.
The crew needs a mechanic assigned to the affected compartment, followed by the plumbing repair objective. Until the blockage is resolved, adding more workers will not address the underlying problem.
Complete the Day 6 mechanic and Plunger task before returning to normal compartment repairs.
When Should You Pay for Another Compartment?
Preparing a compartment costs money, while assigned survivors provide the repair points needed to finish it. The repair tutorial shows an Engines preparation cost of $1,200, although other compartments have their own requirements.
That creates a choice between opening another room and completing the repairs already underway.
During the early shifts, preparing a required compartment is usually worthwhile when you have workers available to begin immediately. The investment opens access to later parts of the ship and gives your crew more time to complete the work.
Near Day 15, check the unfinished compartments before making another large payment. If several rooms are already waiting for repair points, preparing another one may spread your remaining workers and money too thinly.
An onboard infection changes the calculation. Recovery expenses can compete with new compartment purchases, and restoring an affected room may be more urgent than opening another section.
Keep enough money available to maintain the checkpoint and respond to repair setbacks. A high cash balance alone will not make up for days when the yacht had no active workers.
Why Is the Yacht Not Repairing?
If a compartment is not progressing, open the yacht management screen and check its current state before ending another shift.
- Locked: Complete the prerequisite compartment first.
- Not prepared: Pay the displayed preparation cost before expecting repair progress.
- Little or no daily progress: Check the assigned survivors and the yellow repair-point bar.
- Head blocked: Resolve the mechanic and plumbing objective.
- Infection reported: Inspect the affected compartment and its current recovery requirements.
The repair screen distinguishes unfinished work from completed compartments. Use that status to identify the immediate obstruction rather than repeatedly assigning survivors to a room that cannot yet progress.
Confirm the Yacht Is Fully Repaired Before Day 15
Before advancing to the final escape, open the yacht management screen and inspect every compartment. The completed state is marked in green, with checkmarks showing that the ship’s required repairs are finished.
If a compartment remains unfinished, check whether it still needs preparation, workers, or additional repair points. A ship containing healthy survivors does not count as completely restored until its required rooms are finished.
The restored yacht contributes to Secrets Revealed, which also requires completing the virus research. If every yacht compartment is green but the achievement remains unfinished, check whether you have collected all seven fragments in the Miami Zero virus research.
The story can still reach its conclusion with the yacht unfinished, but the final report recognizes a different result. See the Miami Zero endings for the completed and unfinished outcomes.
