SnowRunner Wortek 250T: How to Unlock and Recover It

Quick Answer

To unlock the Wortek 250T in SnowRunner Season 19, travel to Grüntal Hollow, Switzerland, and find Old Reliable southwest of Town Warehouse, near the gateway to Eiswandspitze. Repair and refuel the damaged truck, switch into it to advance the objective, then take it to the marked delivery location.

The Wortek 250T is one of the two new trucks available in Switzerland, and you can recover it from the first map without completing the region’s major construction contracts. The difficult part is not finding the truck once the nearby task marker is visible. It is getting the damaged vehicle ready to move and bringing it through a series of icy roads, rocky slopes, and narrow mountain turns.

You also have an important choice after repairing it: drive the Wortek to its destination or bring a stronger recovery truck and tow it. The Wortek has plenty of engine power, but its low undercarriage and limited suspension movement make several apparently harmless shortcuts much more troublesome than they look.

Where to Find the Wortek 250T in Grüntal Hollow

Start from the Garage in Grüntal Hollow, the first map in Switzerland. The Old Reliable task is southwest of Town Warehouse, close to the gateway leading to Eiswandspitze. Open the map and look for the task marker beside the industrial area.

You do not need to finish every Watchtower or repair every bridge before visiting this location. However, the damaged roads and unfinished work sites make your first approach more difficult if you arrive with a long trailer or a vehicle that struggles on steep snow-covered slopes.

Old Reliable is southwest of Town Warehouse, near the gateway to Eiswandspitze. Start the task here to recover the Wortek 250T.

Head toward the gateway area and use the road leading down toward the frozen riverbed. An unfinished work site interrupts the more convenient approach, so you can descend toward the ice, travel along the riverbed, and climb back onto the road farther ahead.

There is a descent closer to the work site, but the slope leans sideways. A tall recovery truck can usually handle it more easily than a top-heavy vehicle pulling a maintenance trailer. Another descent farther toward the avalanche area is less awkward when stability matters.

Along the riverbed, keep close to the rocky edge rather than driving across every pale section of ice. There are breakable patches, and a heavy recovery setup can become trapped before you even reach the disabled truck.

Two useful exits lead back toward the higher road. One is near a utility pole; another lies a little farther along the riverbank. Once you climb out, continue along the road toward the bridge area.

Near the bridge, turn toward the uphill route leading to Old Reliable. A construction area interrupts part of the normal road, but a short detour through the snow avoids the obstruction. This final approach is easier with a recovery truck travelling alone than with the disabled Wortek already attached.

If the shorter tracks are too slippery for your chosen vehicle, use the longer road approach instead. Arriving with enough fuel and an undamaged recovery truck is more important than saving a few minutes on the initial journey.

Prepare Enough Repair Points and Fuel Before Starting Old Reliable

The task requires you to repair and refuel the Wortek 250T before moving it to the destination.

One damaged-state example shows the following vehicle condition:

  • Repair condition: 496 out of 730, leaving 234 repair points to restore.
  • Fuel: 138 out of 600 L, leaving 462 L to refill.

These figures describe that particular damaged state, not a permanent cost for every truck in every situation. Check the remaining amounts shown in your active task before leaving the Garage, especially if you have already repaired or refueled the vehicle.

Check both condition and fuel before attempting the recovery. Completing only one requirement will not advance the truck delivery.

For the condition shown above, bring at least 234 repair points and 462 L of transferable fuel for the Wortek itself. Carry additional fuel for the recovery truck and enough repair supplies to deal with any damage during the journey.

A maintenance trailer or a recovery truck fitted with a service add-on can provide these supplies. Check the available repair points before making the trip: arriving with sufficient fuel but too few repair points leaves the first objective unfinished.

Do You Need the Avinhorn to Recover the Wortek?

No specific recovery truck is required.

A powerful Avinhorn with maintenance equipment can manage the journey, but the important requirements are sufficient repair capacity, fuel, traction, and the ability to pull a heavy vehicle uphill if necessary.

A smaller truck may be able to reach Old Reliable without difficulty yet struggle badly with the return trip. That is especially true if it has to pull the Wortek through the rocky mountain sections instead of letting the repaired truck drive under its own power.

For a first attempt, I would prioritize a stable vehicle with a substantial service reserve over a faster vehicle carrying only the minimum supplies.

Complete Old Reliable and Activate the Truck Delivery

Once you arrive at Old Reliable, accept or track the task and approach the damaged Wortek.

Open the service interface, select the Wortek as the repair target, and restore the required condition. Then transfer enough fuel into its tank to satisfy the refueling requirement.

Be careful about which vehicle is selected in the service menu. A support truck and a disabled mission truck can both appear as repair or refueling targets. Spending your remaining repair points on the support truck will not satisfy Old Reliable.

When both requirements are met, switch into the Wortek 250T. This is an important part of progressing the task.

The next objective should identify where the recovered truck must be delivered. The destination is a house farther along the mountain roads, not simply the Garage you started from.

Once the repair stage is complete, you can drive the Wortek toward the marked delivery location. This avoids pulling a second truck through the narrow mountain roads.

Keep your support truck available if the stock Wortek struggles on rocky climbs. Its engine can move the vehicle, but limited chassis and suspension movement make certain obstacles difficult to cross.

Best Recovery Route: Getting the Wortek Back to the Delivery House

The recovery route is not a straight drive along the main road. Several options appear workable on the map, but the shortest visible track is not necessarily the easiest one for this vehicle.

A useful route circles around the mountain before descending toward the house. It has a few difficult sections but avoids some of the worst climbs encountered on the alternatives.

The main-road alternative requires more distance and eventually approaches the delivery location by a steep muddy incline near a work site. That climb can stop a heavily loaded towing combination even when the earlier paved sections were straightforward.

Another alternative passes through rocky ground and an avalanche-like snowbank. It may look shorter, but the Wortek’s low body clearance makes these obstacles especially troublesome. A rock that barely affects the recovery truck can lift the disabled vehicle enough to reduce wheel contact and stop the entire combination.

Choose the winding mountain route when you have a capable recovery truck and want to avoid the steepest muddy approach. It still requires careful handling around rocks and tight turns.

When Towing Is Easier Than Driving

The repaired Wortek can complete the delivery under its own power, but a recovery truck is useful when its chassis catches on uneven rocks.

If towing becomes necessary, pulling the Wortek with its rear end facing forward can reduce interference from the front bodywork on some ledges. Take wider turns around rock outcrops and avoid dragging the truck straight across a rubble field.

When the combination stops moving, disconnect the winch, position the recovery truck on firmer ground, and reconnect from a better angle. Repeatedly accelerating against an obstacle usually wastes fuel without improving traction.

The Last Approach to the House

After clearing the more difficult mountain bends, continue toward the visible house and its delivery marker.

One of the final hazards is a patch of ice to the right of the approach. The route along the garden fence provides another way toward the delivery area without forcing the combination across that slippery section.

Keep enough fuel in the Wortek to satisfy the task when you reach the destination. Draining most of its fuel into your support vehicle before delivery can prevent the objective from accepting the truck until you refill it again.

Drive the Wortek into the marked delivery zone, switching into the truck if needed to register the objective.

What Do You Get for Completing Old Reliable?

Completing Old Reliable awards the recovered Wortek 250T and unlocks the model for purchase in the Truck Store. The task also pays $5,400 and 630 XP.

After completing the delivery, check your available trucks before purchasing another Wortek. The purchase notification does not mean you must buy an additional copy to receive the task reward.

Deliver the repaired Wortek to the marked house to finish Old Reliable and claim the truck.

After claiming it, you can return the truck to the Garage for repairs, modifications, and normal use.

The truck you recover does not arrive with every upgrade installed. That matters more for the Wortek than it does for some other heavy vehicles because the stock setup has noticeable limitations on steep rocky terrain.

Best Wortek 250T Upgrades and Setup

The Wortek 250T has a 600 L fuel tank and several specialized frame configurations, making it useful for hauling and support work. Its performance changes significantly with engine upgrades, although its relatively low undercarriage and limited suspension movement remain important on rocky terrain.

Which Wortek 250T Upgrade Should You Get First?

The TAC D-850X engine is the most important upgrade to look for before judging the Wortek’s hauling performance. It provides substantially more torque than the stock engine and has a lower base fuel-consumption rating.

Both the TAC D-850X engine and the Advanced Special gearbox can be discovered in Grüntal Hollow. The Highway gearbox is found in Schneetal.

For difficult hauling, prioritize the engine. The Advanced Special gearbox provides additional gearing options, but it comes with a fuel-consumption trade-off. The Highway gearbox is a separate choice for routes that favor smoother driving on roads.

Even with the strongest engine installed, the Wortek can still struggle when rocks lift its chassis and reduce wheel contact. More torque helps with heavy loads, but it cannot eliminate the truck’s clearance limitations.

Why the Wortek Struggles in Stock Configuration

The stock Wortek has two separate limitations: engine performance and ground clearance.

The standard TAC D-702 engine delivers considerably less torque than the TAC D-850X upgrade. Heavy pulling can therefore feel sluggish before you obtain the stronger engine, particularly when climbing or towing.

The second limitation remains even after the engine upgrade. The Wortek has little chassis and suspension flex, and its undercarriage can become caught on rocks while the wheels lose effective contact with the ground.

That distinction matters when deciding what to upgrade. More engine power helps with heavy loads, but a different route or a more flexible recovery vehicle may still be necessary when the truck is physically grounded on an obstacle.

How Much Fuel Does the Wortek 250T Use?

The Wortek’s 600 L tank is substantial, but heavy pulling can consume fuel surprisingly quickly.

During demanding driving, fuel consumption can reach approximately 40–55 L per minute, depending on the terrain, load, and operating conditions. Those are demanding-operation readings, not a constant rate for ordinary driving.

Even with a 600 L tank, a prolonged high-load climb can use a large portion of your available fuel. Long recovery missions are therefore better attempted with additional fuel support rather than assuming the stock tank will be enough for the entire journey.

Which Wortek 250T Add-ons Are Worth Using?

The Wortek’s main advantage over a truck built for only one type of cargo is its selection of specialized frame add-ons.

The Wortek 250T Maintenance Frame Add-on is the option to investigate when you want the truck to support repairs and refueling during longer trips. The Wortek 250T Kung provides another service-oriented configuration.

For cargo work, the Wortek also offers sideboard configurations with integrated fuel tanks, including one-slot and two-slot versions. These are particularly useful to consider when the delivery route is long enough that fuel planning becomes part of the job.

Choose the frame according to the cargo requirement before leaving the Garage. A service configuration is useful for supporting other trucks, but it should not replace the cargo equipment needed for the mission you have selected.

The Wortek’s power makes it appealing for heavy hauling, although its restricted suspension travel can still cause problems on rocky mountain routes.

When the Wortek 250T Is Useful After Old Reliable

Old Reliable is worth completing during early Grüntal Hollow exploration, particularly if you want another heavy truck without purchasing one from the Truck Store. The recovery mainly costs fuel, repair supplies, and the journey to the delivery house.

The Wortek is useful on routes where its engine power and large fuel tank can be put to work without repeatedly grounding the chassis. With the TAC D-850X installed, it becomes a more convincing heavy hauler, although the restricted suspension movement remains noticeable on rocky tracks.

If your existing Avinhorn or another heavy truck already handles these deliveries comfortably, Old Reliable does not have to interrupt your current construction work. Recover the Wortek when you have sufficient maintenance supplies and a vehicle capable of assisting it if the return journey becomes difficult.

For tougher mountain recovery work, the Derry Savior offers another option once Forgotten Ally becomes available.
