How Do You Survive Sunstone Valley Resort in R.E.P.O.?

Quick Answer

Play R.E.P.O. v0.5.0 until Sunstone Valley Resort appears in your level rotation. Find the extraction point and check the return route before hauling valuables. Watch for breakable wooden planks, mine carts, and open drops, and bring the cart when a valuable is too awkward to carry safely.

Sunstone Valley Resort looks like a tourist attraction built around an old mining operation, but the difficult part is getting its valuables out. The resort mixes narrow passages, raised platforms, moving mine carts, unstable flooring, and large objects that can be difficult to move through doorways. Pony can turn an already awkward return trip into an emergency.

One of the worst situations is finding an expensive object deep inside the resort, dragging it toward extraction, and discovering that it will not fit through the last doorway. Carrying it farther may require another player, a different angle, or an entirely different route. A valuable that looks worth collecting can become a liability when the extraction quota is already within reach.

The safest approach is to identify where the valuables need to go, clear the dangerous connections between rooms, and only then commit to transporting the largest objects.

How Do You Get to Sunstone Valley Resort?

Sunstone Valley Resort was added in The Sunstone Update (v0.5.0). It appears as another playable level in R.E.P.O.’s normal level rotation rather than as a separate story mission.

Start or continue a run after installing the update. Watch the level name as the next area loads. Sunstone Valley Resort can appear early, but it is not guaranteed to be the first level.

There is no fixed Chapter 1 or particular mission you need to finish to enter the resort. Reaching Level 10 is not a requirement either. The important distinction is that the resort is a new location, not a new stage of the game’s progression system.

Restarting a lobby repeatedly just to see Sunstone is not a reliable way to force it into the next slot. Continuing a normal run also lets you build up equipment and money before encountering the more awkward rooms.

What Does the New Level Look Like?

The resort combines mining tunnels and tourist-style exhibits. You can encounter talking display figures, large crystals, mine carts, elevated rooms, and abandoned-looking visitor areas.

An early exhibit introduces the resort and its crystal-mining history, while other rooms contain mining equipment, unusual machinery, and valuable objects scattered among the displays.

The room arrangement can differ between runs. Recognize the environmental hazards and connections between rooms rather than trying to memorize one uninterrupted route from the entrance to extraction.

Find the Extraction Route Before Collecting Heavy Valuables

Locate the first extraction point and work backward through the surrounding rooms. The important question is whether the objects you discover can actually reach it.

The resort includes vertical layouts where an apparently nearby extraction area may require a detour through another room or a change in elevation. A direct line toward extraction is not necessarily a usable route for a large object.

Before moving far from the extraction area, make a quick pass through the nearby connections:

  1. Find the extraction zone. Check which doorway, corridor, or platform gives you access to it.
  2. Inspect narrow openings. Large valuables can be wider than the passage you need to cross.
  3. Identify unsafe flooring. Look for wooden planks, gaps, and elevated sections before bringing heavy objects across them.
  4. Check moving machinery. Mine carts and other moving objects can interrupt a crossing.
  5. Bring the transport cart toward the valuables. Avoid carrying a bulky object halfway across the map before realizing you need the cart.

This first pass is especially useful in cooperative play. One player can locate valuables and check the route while another keeps the cart accessible. The group then spends less time repeatedly moving the same object between rooms.

Is Every Valuable Worth Carrying Out?

Sunstone’s largest valuables can require a long return through narrow doorways, elevated rooms, and unstable flooring. Check how much value is still needed before committing to another heavy object.

A crystal worth more than $20,000 can justify the extra work when the extraction target is still far away. However, if smaller valuables already cover the remaining quota, carrying that crystal through another dangerous passage introduces an avoidable risk to the run.

How Do You Cross the Breakable Wooden Planks?

Some Sunstone Valley Resort rooms contain wooden planks that can give way beneath players.

These are not simply decorative boards. Falling through one section during an early resort run nearly killed a player, and nearby planks were identified as additional hazards.

Some wooden planks can give way. Check the crossing before moving an expensive object over it.

The danger is greater when carrying a valuable because a sudden fall can separate you from the object, damage it, or leave you in a worse position to recover it.

Approach these sections in the following order:

  1. Put down any fragile or oversized valuable before entering an unfamiliar wooden crossing.
  2. Check whether the floor has an opening or another usable route around it.
  3. Cross without lingering on uncertain boards, keeping enough space to recover if your position changes.
  4. Bring the valuable across only after identifying a practical route for its size and weight.

The planks do not provide a dependable fixed crossing pattern that can be applied to every room arrangement. Do not assume that every wooden section is safe because another part of the room held your weight.

Some planks can also interact differently when players try to grab them. A player was able to interact with a section that another player could not pick up during the same encounter. Treat these interactions cautiously rather than relying on plank manipulation as a guaranteed shortcut.

What If Your Valuable Falls Through?

Stop trying to force additional objects across the same point.

Check where the valuable landed and whether a lower passage provides access. A fall may create a longer recovery trip, particularly when the object is too heavy to lift back onto the original platform.

For an expensive item, recovering it can still be worthwhile if the route is open and your team can carry it safely. For a fragile object with little remaining value, continuing to risk another player may cost more than abandoning it.

How Do You Use the Mine Carts?

Mine carts appear in Sunstone Valley Resort’s mining sections. They are moving environmental objects that players can interact with, but getting into one is not as simple as stepping onto a stationary platform.

In one encounter, several jumps from the surrounding area missed the cart entirely. Approaching it from a higher position and dropping down proved easier than repeatedly trying to jump upward into it.

Watch the moving cart and its curved track before attempting to board or cross the area.

If you want to board a moving cart, watch its direction first. Find a position where you can approach without running directly into its path, then time your movement for when it comes close enough.

The cart’s movement can be unpredictable from the player’s perspective. One attempt ended with a player being thrown out, while another encounter involved a cart striking a player during a dangerous moment near Pony.

Is Riding the Mine Cart Required?

No specific mine-cart ride is needed to complete the ordinary extraction objective.

The cart can offer an unusual way to move through its room, but it also creates additional risk. A failed boarding attempt can place you away from the valuables or leave you exposed to an enemy.

Keep your transport cart and the moving mine cart separate in your planning. The transport cart is useful for organizing valuable objects; the moving mine cart is part of the environment and does not automatically solve the problem of transporting bulky loot between rooms.

When a route is already clear and extraction is close, experimenting with a moving mine cart offers little practical benefit.

What Do the Large Blue Crystals Do?

The resort’s mining theme includes glowing crystals and machinery that can affect player movement.

A crystal-powered interaction caused a noticeable burst of movement speed in one room. Another encounter with a large blue crystal caused the player to float upward, making ordinary movement and object handling difficult.

These interactions can be useful for moving through vertical spaces, but the sudden change in movement is dangerous when carrying valuables.

After touching or grabbing a crystal that affects your movement, regain control before attempting to pass through a doorway or cross a narrow platform. Continuing to push forward while floating can leave the object caught against a wall or carried above the passage you intended to use.

Do not assume that every glowing crystal provides the same effect. The resort contains different crystal-related objects and machinery, and a movement effect does not establish that the object can also recharge weapons or equipment.

How Do You Move Oversized Valuables Through Narrow Doorways?

The narrow passages in Sunstone Valley Resort are especially troublesome for long or wide valuables. An object can move freely through an open room and then become stuck at the next doorway.

Trying to carry it straight ahead may only push its widest section against the frame.

The crystal takes up much of the available passage width. Check the opening and adjust its orientation before moving it farther.

When an object catches on the opening, use a more deliberate sequence:

  1. Stop pushing forward. Repeatedly forcing the same angle can make the object harder to control.
  2. Pull it away from the door. Give yourself room to rotate it without immediately hitting the frame.
  3. Turn the narrowest end toward the opening. Try a lengthwise or diagonal orientation rather than presenting the widest side first.
  4. Guide one end through. In cooperative play, one player can adjust the leading end while another manages the rear.
  5. Reposition after clearing the frame. Once the widest section has passed, straighten the object before continuing.

The large crystal encounter illustrates why this matters. It had to be repositioned several times, and the players considered moving it through at a different angle rather than continuing to force it straight ahead.

Dropping a large object to a lower floor is another tempting shortcut, particularly when the extraction route runs below you. However, the fall can alter its position or damage a valuable. Check the landing area and whether you can retrieve it before committing.

For fragile objects, a longer route with fewer hard collisions may preserve more value than a short route full of sharp corners.

What If Pony Blocks Your Return Route?

Pony can interrupt a valuable haul by grabbing and throwing players, leaving the team exposed while an expensive object is still in transit. Put the valuable down and create space before attempting another carry. For its attack patterns, escape options, and weapon choices, follow the Pony survival and combat instructions.

How Do You Extract Safely From Sunstone Valley Resort?

Before committing to the final return, check the value already delivered and identify the nearest remaining valuables. A large crystal caught between rooms can hold up the team while the surrounding hazards remain active.

  1. Check the remaining extraction quota before collecting more valuables.
  2. Bring nearby, manageable objects back first when they can cover the remaining value.
  3. For a necessary oversized object, clear the doorway and crossing hazards before moving it.
  4. Complete the extraction objective, regroup at the truck, and advance when the game allows it.

Once extraction is complete, regroup at the truck before advancing. Check that everyone has returned rather than leaving a teammate behind while recovering an unnecessary object.

What Are the Yellow Beams Above Extraction?

The yellow beams appearing around extraction are associated with the Moon Judging stacking challenge. They are not simply a barrier that prevents ordinary valuables from being extracted.

You can complete a normal extraction without building a tower. When you have enough time and suitable objects to attempt the additional reward, the Moon Judging instructions explain the stacking requirements and what causes the attempt to fail.

Treat that as a separate decision from transporting valuables through the resort. First get your required loot safely to extraction; then decide whether attempting the extra challenge is worth the risk.

What Should You Do After Clearing Sunstone Valley Resort?

After extraction, use your earnings to prepare for whatever caused the most trouble during the resort run. Health can help with dangerous encounters, while strength or mobility may improve your ability to handle awkward transport routes.
