1 Hotstone Trigger Chain (Present): Palmela → King → Kindling Water
The Hotstone quest is a three-flag chain. Most “stuck” reports happen because players do steps out of order.
Correct Order
- Talk to Palmela in Emberdale (Present).
- Talk to King Donald in Estard about the Hotstone.
- Return to Palmela to receive Kindling Water.
Most common failure
Visiting Burnmont before the King Donald permission dialogue. You’ll reach the setpiece and nothing meaningful will happen.
Tip: If Palmela’s dialogue feels “generic,” you likely haven’t triggered the King flag. Do Estard first, then return.
🧭 Decision Module: Tower Climb Style
Tallest Tower is an “elevator maze.” Your choice is whether you route it for consistency (recommended) or speed. The tower rarely kills you — attrition and getting turned around does.
Plan A: Safe & Oriented
Recommended- Follow primary “carpet/path” lines whenever possible.
- Each floor: find the “center elevator” first, then branch.
- If you hit a loop, backtrack to the last elevator you used (don’t brute-force).
Plan B: Fast & Direct
Speedrun- Ignore side loops completely; treat the tower like a straight climb.
- When you see a choice, take the route that returns you to a central platform.
- If encounters are heavy, consider repel/avoid tools if available.
2 Burnmont Summit (Present): Obtain the Hotstone
Burnmont is straightforward mechanically — the only real fail condition is arriving without the correct quest item.
Hotstone pickup rule
You must use Kindling Water at the magma setpiece to reveal the Hotstone. If nothing triggers, you’re missing the permission flag (King Donald).
3 Tallest Tower (Present): Elevator Maze Routing
There’s no signature boss here — the “boss” is navigation. Route by anchors: carpet lines, central platforms, and elevator positions.
If you see a “central elevator” style platform, treat it like a save point: clear nearby branches, then commit upward.
Random encounters can spike. If you’re burning healing every 2 fights, you’re losing time — stabilize and push when HP/MP are healthy.
4 Summit: Revive Sir Mervyn
At the summit, interact with the statue while you have the Hotstone. The game treats this as a hard gate for party progression.
Practical note: Sir Mervyn arrives as a “plug-and-play” frontliner. If you’re unsure where to slot him, replace your weakest physical role first.
