Quick Answer

Start Witchspire by building a Workbench, placing your main Hearth, setting up storage, and spending Luminary Points on systems that remove your current blocker. Do not over-optimize Coven choice; pick the starter weapon style you want. Your first major progression chain is Hearth → Luminaries → Furnace / Farming / Witchcraft Circle → Spirit Charmer / Spinner → Simple Broom. If you are stuck, check whether the problem is a missing station, a main Hearth level gate, a familiar requirement, or a material route such as Spirit Dust, Fine Wood, or Simple Ritual Candles.

What This Witchspire Guide Hub Covers

Witchspire can look like a simple cozy survival-crafting game at first, but the early hours are really about unlocking the right systems in the right order.

This hub gives you the short route first, then sends you to the detailed guide that matches your current blocker.

Best Early Route

For a smooth first world, your goal is not to unlock every node immediately. Your goal is to build a stable base, open the right stations, and avoid wasting time on the wrong blocker.

PhaseWhat to doWhy it matters
Character setupChoose a Coven and starter familiarSets your opening weapon and combat feel
First baseBuild Workbench, Hearth, and storageOpens crafting, progression, and inventory control
First gathering loopCollect wood, stone, flowers, berries, and familiar dropsFeeds early recipes and Hearth upgrades
Early LuminariesPick Vigor, Furnace, farming, or station unlocks based on blockersStops you from wasting points

Broom routeSave Fine Wood and Spirit Dust, then push Simple BroomFlight makes exploration and Fine Wood farming easier

Coven Choice

Your Coven affects your starting identity and starter weapon. It is not something you need to restart over, but it does decide whether you begin with a Spellblade or a Wand.

Witchspire Coven choice overview showing all six Covens
Coven choice mainly affects your starting identity and starter weapon. Pick the opening weapon style you want, then focus on Hearth, Luminaries, familiars, and early progression.
CovenStarter weaponBest for
CloudpiercersApprentice Cloudpiercer SpellbladePlayers who want a bold explorer / broom-rider fantasy and a Spellblade start
StarsmithsApprentice Starsmith SpellbladePlayers who like crafting flavor, magical items, and a Spellblade start
ForetellersApprentice Foreteller SpellbladePlayers who like prophecy, omen, and future-sight flavor with a Spellblade start

TomekeepersApprentice Tomekeeper WandPlayers who like knowledge, ancient recipes, and a Wand start
NightscribesApprentice Nightscribe WandPlayers who like stars, scrolls, telescopes, and a Wand start

Starter Familiar Choice

Your starter familiar matters for your first fights, but it is not the only familiar you will ever use. Later, bonding gives you more options for combat, stations, and material routes.

For the full bonding route, incense rules, rarity, Chirili locations, Spirit Dust farming, and Spinner compatibility, use the Witchspire Familiars Guide.

Hearth and Luminaries

Your main Hearth is the center of early progression. Luminary Points buy nodes, but your main Hearth level and some skill requirements decide which branches are available.

Witchspire first Workbench and Hearth setup
Your first Workbench and main Hearth create the base loop that feeds every later unlock.
SystemWhat it means
Luminary PointsCurrency used to unlock nodes
Normal progression / level-upsMain route for earning points over time
Luminary ShrinesExploration points that give extra Luminary Points
Main Hearth LevelGates major branches and base progression
Secondary HearthsUseful as travel anchors, not your main progression center
Skill requirementsSome nodes need a related skill level

A simple early route is:

Hearth stageImportant unlocks
Starting routeHearth, Vigor, Basic Cooking, early weapon recipes
Hearth Level 2 routeSmall Farming Plot, Furnace, early ore processing
Hearth Level 3 routeWitchcraft Circle, Spirit Charmer path, ritual crafting
Spinner routeCotton, thread, and fine-string processing with familiar compatibility
Hearth Level 4 routeSimple Broom and flight progression

Witchcraft Circle, Ritual Candles, and Scrolls

If your Hearth upgrade asks for Simple Ritual Candles, your real blocker is usually Witchcraft Circle.

Witchcraft Circle requires Hearth Level 3, costs 1 Luminary Point, and needs 5 Spirit Dust + 25 Stone to build. Once it is ready, each Simple Ritual Candle costs only 1 Wood.

Familiars, Spirit Dust, and Spinner

Familiars are part of far more than combat. They help with bonding routes, Spirit Dust farming, station speed, Spinner requirements, and some world interactions.

Bonding adds a familiar to your collection, but you still need to equip it near the Hearth before using it.
Familiar systemWhy it matters

Spirit DustUsed for incense, Hearth upgrades, ritual crafting, and broom progression
Spirit CharmerImproves familiar bonding once its requirements are met
ChiriliLux familiar found around hot-area routes such as craters, volcanoes, and steaming hot springs
Spinner compatibilitySpinner may need Lamloof / Granloof or Shardling
Familiar storageExtra familiars can be kept for later station checks

Fine Wood and Broom Flight

The broom is one of the biggest early upgrades because it changes how you move, gather, and reach new routes.

To reach it, push the main story and main Hearth route until Simple Broom becomes available. Then gather Fine Wood and Spirit Dust, craft the broom, and activate the Flight Pillar route.

Fast Travel and Hearth Placement

Witchspire has several travel tools, and they solve different problems.

The House Always Wins FAQ

What should I do first in Witchspire? +

After the tutorial, gather basic resources, build a Workbench and Hearth, set up storage, choose early Luminaries that remove blockers, and start bonding useful familiars instead of rushing random upgrades.

Which Coven should I choose in Witchspire? +

Choose based on starter weapon and role fantasy. Cloudpiercers, Starsmiths, and Foretellers start with Spellblade variants, while Wildroots, Tomekeepers, and Nightscribes start with Wand variants.

How do Hearth and Luminaries work? +

Luminary Points are spent on nodes, while your main Hearth level and some skill requirements gate which branches are available. Luminary Shrines give extra points while exploring.

How do you get more familiars? +

Fight familiar-type creatures and watch for lingering spirits after battle. Simple Spirit Incense improves bonding odds, and Spirit Charmer helps once you reach the familiar progression route.

How do you make Simple Ritual Candles? +

Unlock and build Witchcraft Circle first. Witchcraft Circle requires Hearth Level 3, costs 1 Luminary Point, and needs 5 Spirit Dust plus 25 Stone. Each Simple Ritual Candle costs 1 Wood.

How do you unlock the broom? +

Push the main story and main Hearth route toward the Simple Broom node, gather Fine Wood and Spirit Dust, craft the broom, then activate the Flight Pillar route.
