Read Guide →Start Witchspire by building a Workbench, placing your main Hearth, setting up storage, and spending Luminary Points on systems that remove your current blocker. Do not over-optimize Coven choice; pick the starter weapon style you want. Your first major progression chain is Hearth → Luminaries → Furnace / Farming / Witchcraft Circle → Spirit Charmer / Spinner → Simple Broom. If you are stuck, check whether the problem is a missing station, a main Hearth level gate, a familiar requirement, or a material route such as Spirit Dust, Fine Wood, or Simple Ritual Candles.
Witchspire can look like a simple cozy survival-crafting game at first, but the early hours are really about unlocking the right systems in the right order.
This hub gives you the short route first, then sends you to the detailed guide that matches your current blocker.
| If you are trying to… | Start here |
|---|---|
| Learn the best first-hour route | Witchspire Beginner Guide |
| Understand Hearth levels and Luminaries | Hearth and Luminaries Guide |
| Bond familiars or fix Spinner | Familiars Guide |
| Make Ritual Candles or use Homebound Scrolls | Ritual Candles and Fast Travel Guide |
| Find Fine Wood and unlock broom flight | How to Unlock the Broom |
For a smooth first world, your goal is not to unlock every node immediately. Your goal is to build a stable base, open the right stations, and avoid wasting time on the wrong blocker.
| Phase | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Character setup | Choose a Coven and starter familiar | Sets your opening weapon and combat feel |
| First base | Build Workbench, Hearth, and storage | Opens crafting, progression, and inventory control |
| First gathering loop | Collect wood, stone, flowers, berries, and familiar drops | Feeds early recipes and Hearth upgrades |
| Early Luminaries | Pick Vigor, Furnace, farming, or station unlocks based on blockers | Stops you from wasting points |
| Familiar route | Bond useful familiars and save Spirit Dust | Supports combat, stations, incense, and broom progression |
| Ritual route | Unlock Witchcraft Circle when candles or scrolls block you | Opens Ritual Candles and magical crafting |
| Travel route | Use Homebound Scrolls and Hearth teleporting | Cuts long walks and risky returns |
| Broom route | Save Fine Wood and Spirit Dust, then push Simple Broom | Flight makes exploration and Fine Wood farming easier |
Your Coven affects your starting identity and starter weapon. It is not something you need to restart over, but it does decide whether you begin with a Spellblade or a Wand.
| Coven | Starter weapon | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudpiercers | Apprentice Cloudpiercer Spellblade | Players who want a bold explorer / broom-rider fantasy and a Spellblade start |
| Starsmiths | Apprentice Starsmith Spellblade | Players who like crafting flavor, magical items, and a Spellblade start |
| Foretellers | Apprentice Foreteller Spellblade | Players who like prophecy, omen, and future-sight flavor with a Spellblade start |
| Wildroots | Apprentice Wildroot Wand | Players who like nature, growth, herbalism, and a Wand start |
| Tomekeepers | Apprentice Tomekeeper Wand | Players who like knowledge, ancient recipes, and a Wand start |
| Nightscribes | Apprentice Nightscribe Wand | Players who like stars, scrolls, telescopes, and a Wand start |
Your starter familiar matters for your first fights, but it is not the only familiar you will ever use. Later, bonding gives you more options for combat, stations, and material routes.
| Starter | Element | Early style |
|---|---|---|
| Fien | Nox | Control, slowing effects, and damage over time |
| Locto | Lux | Explosive early damage and fiery attacks |
| Bril | Crystal | Shard damage, disruption, and knockback |
| Quol | Ethereal | Safer projectile support and protection |
For the full bonding route, incense rules, rarity, Chirili locations, Spirit Dust farming, and Spinner compatibility, use the Witchspire Familiars Guide.
Your main Hearth is the center of early progression. Luminary Points buy nodes, but your main Hearth level and some skill requirements decide which branches are available.
| System | What it means |
|---|---|
| Luminary Points | Currency used to unlock nodes |
| Normal progression / level-ups | Main route for earning points over time |
| Luminary Shrines | Exploration points that give extra Luminary Points |
| Main Hearth Level | Gates major branches and base progression |
| Secondary Hearths | Useful as travel anchors, not your main progression center |
| Skill requirements | Some nodes need a related skill level |
A simple early route is:
| Hearth stage | Important unlocks |
|---|---|
| Starting route | Hearth, Vigor, Basic Cooking, early weapon recipes |
| Hearth Level 2 route | Small Farming Plot, Furnace, early ore processing |
| Hearth Level 3 route | Witchcraft Circle, Spirit Charmer path, ritual crafting |
| Spinner route | Cotton, thread, and fine-string processing with familiar compatibility |
| Hearth Level 4 route | Simple Broom and flight progression |
If your Hearth upgrade asks for Simple Ritual Candles, your real blocker is usually Witchcraft Circle.
Witchcraft Circle requires Hearth Level 3, costs 1 Luminary Point, and needs 5 Spirit Dust + 25 Stone to build. Once it is ready, each Simple Ritual Candle costs only 1 Wood.
| Ritual item or route | What to know |
|---|---|
| Simple Ritual Candle | Crafted at Witchcraft Circle for 1 Wood |
| Homebound Ritual Scroll | Returns you to your most recently visited Hearth or safe location |
| Mirella’s Shop | Sells Ritual Scroll: Homebound for 25 Coins |
| Shimmering Ink | Part of the magical crafting route |
| Azure Feather | Dropped by blue flying familiars such as Taileaf |
| Hearth teleport | Lets you click discovered Hearths on the map once available |
For the full route, use the Ritual Candles and Fast Travel Guide.
Familiars are part of far more than combat. They help with bonding routes, Spirit Dust farming, station speed, Spinner requirements, and some world interactions.
| Familiar system | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Simple Spirit Incense | Gives +10% bonding chance for 20 seconds |
| Spirit Dust | Used for incense, Hearth upgrades, ritual crafting, and broom progression |
| Spirit Charmer | Improves familiar bonding once its requirements are met |
| Chirili | Lux familiar found around hot-area routes such as craters, volcanoes, and steaming hot springs |
| Spinner compatibility | Spinner may need Lamloof / Granloof or Shardling |
| Familiar storage | Extra familiars can be kept for later station checks |
The broom is one of the biggest early upgrades because it changes how you move, gather, and reach new routes.
To reach it, push the main story and main Hearth route until Simple Broom becomes available. Then gather Fine Wood and Spirit Dust, craft the broom, and activate the Flight Pillar route.
| Broom route step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Progress main story | Follow the Al’uun material route when your Hearth asks for it |
| Upgrade main Hearth | Push toward the later route where Simple Broom appears |
| Unlock Simple Broom | Spend the point once the node is available |
| Gather Fine Wood | Start south of the first abandoned Hearth |
| Bring Logging Sickle | Fine Wood needs the right tool |
| Save Spirit Dust | Do not spend it all before the broom route |
| Activate Flight Pillar | The broom is not fully useful until the flight route is active |
| Press V on keyboard | Use the current input prompt if playing on controller |
For the full route, use How to Unlock the Broom in Witchspire.
Witchspire has several travel tools, and they solve different problems.
| Travel tool | Best use |
|---|---|
| Homebound Ritual Scroll | Emergency return to the most recently visited Hearth or safe location |
| Hearth-to-Hearth teleport | Planned travel between discovered Hearths |
| Extra Hearths | Travel anchors near routes you revisit |
| Broom flight | Faster movement, second-island access, and resource farming |
| Manual walking | Short trips where scrolls would be wasteful |
Use this table when you know something is wrong, but not which system is responsible.
| Blocker | Likely fix |
|---|---|
| No Simple Ritual Candles | Unlock Witchcraft Circle; candles cost 1 Wood each once the station is ready |
| No Witchcraft Circle | Push main Hearth toward Level 3 |
| No Furnace | Reach the Hearth Level 2 route and unlock the Furnace node |
| Furnace unlocked but not useful | Place it from Build Mode and assign a familiar to speed smelting |
| Spinner inactive | Assign Lamloof / Granloof or Shardling |
| No Fine Wood | Go south from the first abandoned Hearth and use a Logging Sickle |
| Broom crafted but cannot fly | Activate the Flight Pillar route |
| Long walk back home | Use Homebound Scrolls or Hearth teleporting |
| No familiar bonds | Use Simple Spirit Incense before fighting familiar-type creatures |
| No Luminary Points | Progress normally and activate Luminary Shrines while exploring |
After the tutorial, gather basic resources, build a Workbench and Hearth, set up storage, choose early Luminaries that remove blockers, and start bonding useful familiars instead of rushing random upgrades.
Choose based on starter weapon and role fantasy. Cloudpiercers, Starsmiths, and Foretellers start with Spellblade variants, while Wildroots, Tomekeepers, and Nightscribes start with Wand variants.
Luminary Points are spent on nodes, while your main Hearth level and some skill requirements gate which branches are available. Luminary Shrines give extra points while exploring.
Fight familiar-type creatures and watch for lingering spirits after battle. Simple Spirit Incense improves bonding odds, and Spirit Charmer helps once you reach the familiar progression route.
Unlock and build Witchcraft Circle first. Witchcraft Circle requires Hearth Level 3, costs 1 Luminary Point, and needs 5 Spirit Dust plus 25 Stone. Each Simple Ritual Candle costs 1 Wood.
Push the main story and main Hearth route toward the Simple Broom node, gather Fine Wood and Spirit Dust, craft the broom, then activate the Flight Pillar route.
